What is Apple system component?

By Junaid, maker of Taskglass · Last reviewed

A component of macOS or an Apple app, named with Apple's 'com.apple.' identifier.

Names starting with 'com.apple.' are Apple's own identifiers, typically used for helper services inside macOS and Apple apps. These are normally started and stopped automatically by the system. To confirm it's genuine, check that the file lives inside /System, /usr or an Apple app.
