What is corespotlightd on Mac?

By Junaid, maker of Taskglass · Last reviewed

Indexes content that apps share with Spotlight, like emails, notes and messages.

corespotlightd handles Core Spotlight, which lets apps add their own content to Spotlight search, such as emails in Mail, notes, messages and items from third-party apps. It's busier when apps donate lots of content, for example after setting up a mail account.
