What is GoogleUpdater on Mac?

By Junaid, maker of Taskglass · Last reviewed

Keeps Chrome and other Google apps up to date in the background.

GoogleUpdater (and the older GoogleSoftwareUpdateAgent, also called Keystone) checks for and installs updates for Google apps such as Chrome and Google Drive. It runs periodically even when Chrome is closed, which is normal. Keeping it working means you get Chrome's security fixes promptly.
