What is notifyd on Mac?

By Junaid, maker of Taskglass · Last reviewed

A tiny messaging service that lets system processes signal each other quickly.

notifyd is the server for the low-level notification system processes use to signal simple events to each other, such as 'the time zone changed'. It's not related to the notification banners you see. It starts at boot and is normally extremely light.
