What is System Settings on Mac?

By Junaid, maker of Taskglass · Last reviewed

The app where you change your Mac's settings.

System Settings (called System Preferences before macOS Ventura) is where you configure your Mac. It loads settings panels on demand, and some panels, such as Storage, can do heavy work while open. It's safe to quit anytime.
