What is callservicesd on Mac?

By Junaid, maker of Taskglass · Last reviewed

Keeps track of phone and FaceTime calls on your Mac, including calls from your iPhone.

callservicesd is the system daemon that maintains call state: it tracks FaceTime calls and iPhone calls you make or receive on your Mac through Continuity, and keeps call history in sync. It's usually idle unless a call is happening.

Why is callservicesd using so much CPU or memory?

  • An active call
  • Syncing call history
  • Your iPhone nearby with many incoming calls

What to do

  1. 1End any active calls
  2. 2If you don't take calls on your Mac, turn off 'Calls from iPhone' in FaceTime settings
  3. 3Restart your Mac

Safe to quit? With care.

macOS relaunches it; any active call may drop.
