What is imagent on Mac?

The background agent for Messages and FaceTime, sending and receiving your iMessages.
imagent runs in the background for Messages (and related FaceTime functions), keeping your iMessage and SMS conversations in sync even when the Messages app is closed. It's busier when lots of messages arrive or when Messages in iCloud is syncing.
