What is coreauthd on Mac?

By Junaid, maker of Taskglass · Last reviewed

Handles Touch ID and password prompts when apps ask you to confirm it's you.

coreauthd provides Local Authentication services: when an app or the system asks you to confirm your identity with Touch ID, your Apple Watch or your password, coreauthd manages that check and shows the prompt. It's idle the rest of the time.
