What is timed on Mac?

By Junaid, maker of Taskglass · Last reviewed

Keeps your Mac's clock accurate by syncing with time servers.

timed maintains system clock accuracy by synchronizing with reference clocks over the network (using technologies such as NTP). It's aware of power and battery conditions and is normally almost idle.

  • Network changes or waking from sleep, when it rechecks the time
  • Time zone or date settings being changed

What to do

  1. 1Make sure 'Set time and date automatically' is on in System Settings > General > Date & Time
  2. 2Restart your Mac if it stays busy
